Resources

Some of my favorite Christian resources:

  • Wretched Radio podcast and Wretched TV – Freely available content with host Todd Friel (including street witnessing encounters every Wednesday in the podcast). You may also find archived episodes of both the podcast and the Wretched TV program covering many theological topics. This evangelistic ministry is a great one to support and to learn about sharing your faith. Check your favorite podcast app for Wretched Radio and check your smart tv’s listings for the Wretched TV channel. Update: Wretched Radio is now part of the larger offerings at Fortis Institute. You can watch or listen to LOTS of content freely on the website or the Fortis+ app.
  • https://www.livingwaters.com/Living Waters has many articles and downloads available for free. There is also a YouTube channel at You Tube – Way of the Master Like Wretched, this is a great ministry to get equipped for evangelism.
  • Blue Letter Bible – One of my favorite sites for Bible reading and Bible commentaries. They have a mobile app (available for both iOS and Android) that I use almost daily for Bible reading and study.
  • The Knowledge of the Holy by A.W. Tozer — I was able to find a free audio book download rental of this resource from my local library. (See Library and Libby app resource listing below)
  • Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners by John Bunyan — Read free at Gutenberg.org or download the free Kindle version. The book is in the public domain, so you may be able to download it for free from your library’s website also.
  •  I’ve found Puritan authors’ books for free or very low cost available to download from the Kindle store at Amazon.com as well.
  • Your Library and the Libby app – Not exactly a “Christian resource” but check out your library’s offerings for free Christian book downloads, too. My library uses the Libby app for both ebooks and audiobooks (see Libby by Overdrive to see if your library’s collection is there). The Libby app is available for both android and iOS devices. The app works great for listening to audiobooks, managing holds, and searching for what is available.
  • Hoopla digital – For more free reading from your library, I’ve found another app called Hoopla that may connect to your local library’s catalogue (for US readers). There aren’t a ton of good, spiritual readings available from my local library, but sometimes you can find solid selections of ebooks, audiobooks, and even movies available for loan.

  • Bible Reading Plan – binge reading! Here’s a link to my 35 Day Bible Reading Plan. If you’ve never quickly read through the Bible in a short amount of time, I highly recommend doing it at least once! • The Living Waters podcast has been a great way to redeem the time when traveling for work. The Living Waters Podcast covers serious Christian topics but there are A LOT of laughs, too. It’s not often that I actually laugh out loud listening to a podcast in the car alone but these guys are great together and clearly enjoy themselves with this podcast.
  • I found C.S. Lewis’ Space Trilogy available for an audiobook rental through Hoopla. Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, and That Hideous Strength were all available. If you’ve only read the non-fiction work of C.S. Lewis, you may enjoy these sci-fi works as well.
    • I just noticed upon browsing that Church History 101 by Sinclair B. Ferguson, Joel R. Beeke, and Michael A.G. Haykin is available too.
  • How often do you or those around you want to know the will of God for a particular situation? This sermon titled Modern Spirituality and Your Mind by Voddie Baucham may surprise or unsettle you, but it addresses some flawed ways that Christians may seek God’s will:
  • Prayer apps:
    • Prayer Mate – This app has been a great help to me in remembering all of the prayer requests of family, friends, and church.
    • Five Psalms – An app to assist you in praying the Bible, using a choice of five different Psalms each day. I wrote more about it in this post.
